Answer

How long should TikTok Shop videos be?

Updated

In short

Most TikTok Shop product videos should be short: long enough to show the product clearly, in motion, with one reason to buy, which for a single clothing or shoe product is usually well under 15 seconds. FlowFits videos run 4 to 12 seconds, 8 by default, because a post whose job is a tap on the product card needs one clear look at the product, not a story.

Match the length to the job

Length follows from what the video has to do. A try-on of one dress needs the dress on a body, a step into the mirror or a swing of the hem, and the product card. That fits in eight seconds. A video comparing three pairs of jeans by wash and rise needs time for each pair. A tutorial on tying a wrap top runs as long as the tying takes. The common mistake is padding a single-product video to reach a length somebody said performs.

What TikTok Shop's own guidance asks for

TikTok Shop's US page on high-quality videos and LIVEs, dated September 17, 2026, does not name a best length. It sets out what should be on screen instead: dynamic visuals, the physical product from several angles, a real-world setting, people and some camera movement. It asks creators to aim for at least 3 seconds of dynamic content without static images or looping visuals, and it encourages showing a face, so a faceless format has to let the product's movement carry the video. Its older Content Quality Guidelines make the same point from the buyer's side: show the real product from multiple angles, with close-ups of the details.

The same page says product promotion should not rely on static frames, and its list of static formats includes screenshots, scrolling images, screen recordings and slideshows. If you plan to tag products on photo posts, including ones made with the FlowFits Slideshow workflow, read that page for your region first and keep your product-tagged posts as moving video where in doubt. The practical reading: a short video is fine; a video that is mostly a frozen image is not, at any length.

Why short suits a product post

This is reasoning, not a TikTok statistic. A Shop video is judged in its first second like anything else in the feed, and then it has one more job: getting the viewer to the product card while they want the thing. A short video puts the product on screen from the first frame, so there is no intro to sit through. A loop of a skirt swinging restarts before the viewer has decided to scroll on. And short videos take less time to make, so you can post more products and more hooks and let your own numbers show which length suits your account.

A longer video earns its length when the buyer needs information the listing photo cannot give: how far a legging stretches, what fits inside a tote, how a jacket layers over a hoodie. If the extra seconds do not answer a buyer's question, cut them.

How length works in FlowFits

Every FlowFits V1 video can be 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 seconds, vertical and 1080p, and 8 seconds is the default. Longer videos use more of your plan, so length is a real choice; see the plans. In practice: 4 or 6 seconds for shoes and accessories where one step or one look carries it, 8 for a standard try-on, 10 or 12 for a Full Fit with several pieces to show. If you add on-screen text with Add Text, keep the line short enough to read in the first few seconds. For a longer post, join two FlowFits videos of the same creator in your own editor.

Test length on your own account

  1. Pick one product and make it at two lengths, for example 6 and 10 seconds, with the same opener and room.
  2. Post both on the same account a few days apart, at a similar time.
  3. Compare watch time and product clicks in TikTok's analytics, not only views.
  4. Repeat with two more products before deciding; one result proves little.

To plan how many videos a day that testing adds up to, use the TikTok Shop posting planner.

Questions

What is the best length for a TikTok Shop video?

TikTok Shop's own guidance does not name one. For a single clothing or shoe product, a video that shows it clearly and in motion in under 15 seconds usually does the job; comparisons and demos need longer.

How long are FlowFits videos?

4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 seconds, vertical 1080p, with 8 seconds as the default. You choose the length for each video.

Can a TikTok Shop video be too short?

Yes, if the product is hard to see or nothing moves. TikTok Shop's US quality guidance asks for at least 3 seconds of dynamic content showing the physical product, so a 4-second video has to put the product in motion from the first frame.

Does a longer video rank better on TikTok Shop?

TikTok has not published a length that ranks better, and we have no data that says so. Make the video as long as the product needs, then compare watch time and product clicks across lengths on your own account.

Are photo slideshows a good way to promote Shop products?

Check first. TikTok Shop's US guidance on high-quality videos lists slideshows among the static formats it does not want carrying a product promotion. A safe split is photo posts for styling ideas and moving video for anything with a product tagged.
