Guide
No samples, no filming: how to make TikTok Shop product videos with AI
Updated
In short
You need one clear product photo. An AI video tool generates a creator wearing or holding the product in a room, animates it into a short vertical video, and you check it against the listing before you post with TikTok's AI label on. You never touch the product, but you also never claim you did.
Why affiliates look for a way around samples
Samples are how TikTok Shop affiliates have always got products to film. They are also slow and conditional. TikTok Shop's Seller University describes two kinds:
- Free samples need recent TikTok Shop sales (within the last 120 days). The seller can approve, reject or ignore the request, and you are expected to post promotional content within 14 days of receiving the product. Missing deadlines can mean fewer sample offers or removal from the program.
- Refundable samples need no seller approval, but you pay first and are refunded only if your content drives the seller's sales goal within 120 days.
For a new affiliate with no sales, free samples are out of reach, and refundable ones tie up money. For an experienced affiliate, the limit is different: there are more products worth testing than parcels you can wait for, and more samples than days to film them.
Then there is the filming itself: a clean room, good light, outfit changes, takes, edits. Even with the product on the table, one person films a limited number of products a week.
What you need instead
An AI product video starts from a photo, so the list is short:
- One clear product photo. The listing photo, a flat lay or an on-model shot. Colour, print and cut are read off it, so pick the one that shows the whole product in its true colour.
- The product link, so the post points to the listing.
- An account to post from, and ideally one AI creator saved for that account so every video shows the same person.
That is it. No shipping address, no sample request, no ring light.
How to make the video, step by step
Here is how it works on FlowFits, which is built only for TikTok Shop fashion videos. The same order of steps is a good habit in any AI tool.
- 01
Drop the product photo
Paste or upload the photo. There is no prompt box: you pick the account and answer one or two questions, such as the format or the room.
- 02
Pick the format
A mirror-selfie try-on (UGC Ad), a shoe point of view (Shoes POV), a whole outfit (Full Fit), a photo carousel (Slideshow), or a viral video rebuilt with your product (Recreate).
- 03
Approve the first frame
Before any video renders, you see your creator in the product, in the room. This is where you catch a wrong colour or a missing detail, and change it in plain words.
- 04
Let it render and check
The frame becomes an 8-second, 1080p vertical video by default. FlowFits runs a product check, a phone check, a cut check and an anatomy check; a video that drifts from the product is re-rendered or held, never delivered.
- 05
Post from the Library
The video lands by account and day, with the caption and product link ready. You post it yourself and mark it posted.
The detailed version, including what to look for at each step, is in how to make AI UGC videos for TikTok Shop.
Getting the photo right
Since the photo stands in for the sample, it deserves a minute of care. Use the clearest front view the listing has. Avoid photos with heavy filters, since they shift the colour, and tightly cropped shots, since they hide the cut. A busy background can bleed into the product, so a plain one is safer. If the product has a print, a logo or text, make sure it is sharp in the photo; a detail the AI cannot read is a detail it has to guess. When the listing only has poor photos, that is a good sign the product is worth a sample before you push it.
The honesty rules when you never held the product
Making a video without the product is fine. Pretending you had it is not. Keep these rules on every video:
- Label it. TikTok requires creators to label AI-generated content that contains realistic images, audio or video. Turn on the AI-generated content setting when you post. TikTok says the label does not affect distribution as long as the video follows its Community Guidelines.
- Show, do not review. The AI creator shows the product. It must not say it has worn it, washed it or loved it for weeks. The FTC's rule on consumer reviews and testimonials covers reviews that claim to come from someone who does not exist, such as AI-generated fake reviews, and reviews by people with no real experience of the product.
- Match the listing. Colour, print, logo text and cut should match what the shop sells. If the photo is unclear, the video will be too; pick a better photo rather than posting a guess.
- Keep captions factual. Describe the product and its details. Leave claims about fit, feel and durability to people who have used it.
When a sample is still worth it
There are good reasons to get the product anyway: to check quality before you push it hard, to film an honest review in your own voice, or to show how a fabric moves and stretches on a real body. A practical split is AI videos to test many products quickly, and samples for the few that earn a closer look. AI UGC vs hiring UGC creators and the rest of our comparisons go through where each approach is the better call.
What it costs compared with samples
On FlowFits, plans are sized in 8-second videos and work out to $0.45 to $0.98 a video, depending on the plan, billed monthly. There are no samples to buy, no shipping and no filming day. There is also no free plan, so start with the smallest plan that covers the products you want to test. The plans are in the pricing section, and every product fact is on the facts page.
| Plan | Price | 8-second videos a month | Per video | TikTok accounts | Lanes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $59/mo | up to 60 | $0.98 | 1 | V1 |
| Pro | $135/mo | up to 250 | $0.54 | 3 | V1 and V2 |
| Studio | $299/mo | up to 665 | $0.45 | 6 | V1 and V2 |
| Operator | On a call | 1,200+ | by volume | Unlimited | V1 and V2 |
A credit is one second of V1 video (8 for an 8-second video). Annual billing is 25% off. See the plans
Skipping samples saves time and upfront cost per video. It does not make a product sell. Sales depend on the product, the hook, the account and the audience, and results vary.

Questions
Can I make TikTok Shop videos without the product?
Yes. An AI tool can make a product video from a clear listing photo. The video is only as accurate as the photo, and it must be labeled as AI-generated and must not claim anyone used the product.
Do I need to film anything myself?
No. On FlowFits there is no filming and no prompting: you drop the product photo, pick the account, answer one or two questions and approve the first frame.
Is it allowed to promote a product I never received?
Showing a product accurately is fine; claiming personal experience you do not have is not. Label AI videos under TikTok's rules and keep captions to facts about the product.
