Answer

Is AI content allowed on TikTok Shop?

Updated

In short

Yes. TikTok Shop's US policy page on AI-generated content says AI content is allowed as long as it is transparent and accurate, and that content is not restricted or penalized only because AI was used. The conditions: disclose realistic AI content, show the product exactly as its listing describes it, and never use AI to impersonate someone or fake a result.

What TikTok Shop's AI policy actually says

The page to read is TikTok Shop Academy's "AI-Generated Content Restrictions and Requirements" for the United States, dated September 2, 2026 when we read it on October 1. Its definition of AI content is wide: videos, images, audio, text or LIVE content that is fully or partly generated, edited or synthesized with AI. An AI creator trying on a dress in a mirror counts, and so does a caption an AI helped write.

The same page lists uses it considers acceptable when the result is accurate: AI visual styles such as cartoon or anime, editing that improves lighting, color or background without touching the product information, translation, dubbing and subtitles, help with titles and scripts, and AI-generated scenes that illustrate how a product is used, provided the scene matches the product's real size, material and function. It also says content will not be restricted or penalized solely for using AI, provided it follows TikTok's Community Guidelines and the Shop policies.

The three conditions that decide it

What this means for AI fashion and product videos

An invented AI creator in a fitting room, wearing a top that matches the listing photo, with the AI label on, sits inside the permitted use. The same video turns into a problem the moment the AI changes what is being sold: a different neckline, a colorway the shop does not offer, a bundle that grew. TikTok Shop's misleading-content guidance uses a fashion case of its own, a video showing a dress in four colors when the product page lists three. It also says variations of the same branded product are fine, so a creator wearing the black version of a sneaker the listing sells in white and grey is not misleading.

This is the problem FlowFits is built around. You approve the first frame, which shows the product on your creator before any video renders, and every finished video is checked against your product photo; one that drifts from the product is re-rendered or held instead of delivered. That lowers the risk without moving the responsibility: you post the video, so you are the one confirming it matches the live listing. For what AI UGC is and is not, see what is AI UGC.

What the AI creator can and cannot say

An AI creator can show a product: how a skirt moves on a step, how jeans sit at the waist, how a hoodie looks in a dorm room mirror. It should never say it bought the item, wore it for a month or is reviewing it, because the person is generated and the experience never happened. TikTok Shop's guidance asks creators to base claims on the product or on personal experience; a generated creator has no personal experience, so every claim has to come from the listing. Leave out "lowest price ever", sale deadlines you cannot verify, and fit promises the size chart does not support.

Before you post: a short checklist

  1. Color, length, print, hardware and number of pieces in the video match the product page.
  2. The caption and on-screen text repeat only what the listing says, and any price matches the page today.
  3. The AI-generated content setting is on, or the disclosure is in the video or caption.
  4. The creator is a character you invented, not the likeness of a real person.
  5. The product you tag is the product in the video.

Questions

Will TikTok Shop penalize a video just because it was made with AI?

Its US AI policy says no: content is not restricted or penalized solely for using AI, provided it follows the Community Guidelines and the Shop policies. Penalties come from what the video does, such as misleading claims, an altered product, impersonation or missing disclosure.

Can TikTok Shop affiliates post AI videos of products they have not received?

The AI policy we read is about accuracy and disclosure, not about holding a sample. What it requires is that the product shown matches the product page and what buyers receive. Work from the listing photo, compare the video against it, and see TikTok Shop videos without samples.

Do I have to label AI content on TikTok Shop?

Yes, when it is fully generated or significantly edited by AI and looks realistic. TikTok's Community Guidelines and the Shop AI policy both require it, and the Shop policy lists failing to disclose significant AI use as a violation in its own right.

Is an AI-written caption counted as AI content?

The Shop policy's definition includes text, and it lists AI help with titles, descriptions and scripts as a permitted use when the information is true. Its disclosure rules focus on realistic synthetic people, voices and footage.

Does FlowFits post or label the videos for me?

No. FlowFits makes each video and files it in your Library with the caption and product link. You post it on TikTok yourself and switch on the AI-generated content setting as you publish.
